How a good Mains score (and yes rank!) will help:
- You have the choice of NITs.
- You can opt for other self-financed colleges (SRM Univ, VIT, BITS) Many good private colleges can evaluate under the Mains ranking apart from their own entrance exam.
- Premier college/university means guaranteed quality education.
- Strong technical educational foundation means higher demand.
How a good Advanced rank will help:
- Ya! IITs!
- According to the revised system of JEE (from 2012 onwards) a good Advanced score may land you in a position to choose any NIT and the desired course, definitely as per availability of seats.
- Prestige.
